What would you do in the following three situations?

Entering the Real Situations Contest allows us to get you thinking about decision-making using real life scenarios.

    1. You are invited to your friend’s birthday party at her home. You are told that her parents will be home and that you will be having pizza and soda, followed by going to see a movie and then going back to her house to sleep over. You leave your parents her phone number and they drop you off outside. When you get inside the house, the music is blasting and a bunch of your friends are inside smoking cigarettes and marijuana and drinking beer. You know your mom has her cell phone with her. What do you do? What do you say to your friends?

    2. You and five of your best friends are on your way to see a concert in the nearest city. On the way there, your friend Jack says he needs to stop and pick up his friend Paul who he works with at his after school job. Paul does not have a concert ticket. When you pick him up, Paul asks you to put his nitrous oxide tank in your trunk. He plans to make a whole lot of money selling inhalants in the concert parking lot. What do you do?

    3. Your older brother’s girlfriend just dumped him last month. It was a bad breakup. Recently he has been coming home high on the weekends. You are sure he is getting high because you found a small plastic bag containing white powder on the bathroom sink this morning. Your parents are taking you both out to breakfast for your dad’s birthday in a few minutes. What do you do? Do you confront your brother about his drug problem? If not, explain why. If so, do you confront him in front of your parents or wait until you are alone?
